George Vanderbilt, the American multi-millionaire "sponsor" of the race, gives the enormous cup to the Mantuan that is still on his Alfa Romeo type 12C-36 (but he will be transported in triumph and he'll enter in the cup!). The 1936 edition of the Vanderbilt's Cup resumed the traditional race that born in 1904 and that was interrupted in 1916. The 1936 edition was disputated for the first time at the Roosvelt Field Circuit. The last edition the year after, were Rosemeyer with Auto Union triumphed.
